Avoid Making This Fatal Mistake With Your Item Upgrade

Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by a number of means that include the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.

Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the primary way to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots that can be upgraded, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.

There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be put in any equipment type and offer less bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.

Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you do not have enough of either.

The amount of upgrade components required for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The price of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a merchant, or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced with an suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewers and trigger interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by specific amount. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by and not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and the quality of the product you are in awe of.

Most upgrade components inserted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you wish to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged with the glyph shards.

When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who take lots of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and typically better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its own level, so items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls are based on a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it is higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

A reroll is a good option for upgrading an item, but users should be aware that it can reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls needed to increase it to the final level. This lowering effect is most effective with ring items and Diadems that don't have other options for raising ilvls.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to let people pay for it using money or food items, which would allow players to make changes to their builds without having to invest excessive amounts of time. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are a number of ways to increase the level of an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which boosts the damage or healing of an individual stat. Additionally you have the option to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

It is important to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases, a better roll will be derived from glyphs, but there are also opportunities for more or unique rolls. Additionally, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item and when you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an exceptional item type, it could achieve an increased iLevel.

Upgrades can be expensive Particularly if you're upgrading equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the number of upgrade levels. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to reach the next level.

If you're lucky, your upgraded item may reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional effect. This will give you a substantial increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level, however. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.

Based on the item's base level and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change too. For instance an item upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an exceptional one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
